SE2026 includes two major social events as part of the official conference program.
Welcome Reception
To welcome all participants in Bern and its university, a welcome reception will be held on Wednesday evening in the foyer of the university’s main building. The reception serves as a kick-off to the conference, allowing for connecting with fellow participants, establishing new contacts and engaging in informal discussion.

Conference Dinner
As is customary, a conference dinner will be held on Thursday evening, serving as a great opportunity to unwind after two full days of conference and to network. The dinner will give ample opportunities for discussions, collaborations and informal exchange. Furthermore, the award ceremony of the Dissertationspreis des GI FB SWT, the Softwaretechnikpreise der GI FB SWT für Master und Bachelor and the Student Research Competition will be carried out as part of the dinner.
The dinner will be held at the Gurten Pavillon, the restaurant sitting on the Gurten, the mountain atop Bern. This location offers an impressive panorama view over the city of Bern and its surrounding landscape. You’ll find more information about the venue on the Gurten Pavillon page.
Apart from the official program
Bern is a historical and picturesque city that has a lot to offer culturally and in terms of sightseeing.
